How to get to Waterford and Dunmore East

1. from Cork: The N25 is the route linking Cork to Waterford. When close to Waterford make sure you take the left filter at Knockhouse (and so avoid the toll Plaza) and leave at 3 o’clock from the double roundabout. After that drive on the outer ring road through eight (8) further roundabouts until you come to the last roundabout at Waterford University Hospital. Veer off at 3 o’clock from that roundabout (the third exit) and drive for around 14 kilometres to Dunmore East, which is signposted along the way.

2. from Dublin: get on to the N7/M7, which is most easily accessed at the Red Cow Roundabout, at Junction 9 on the M50. After around 33 kilometres take the left exit for the M9 and then it’s easy and direct driving all the way down to Waterford. You’ll know you’re close to the City when you see a large stay bridge over the Suir. You then have two options: either continue on into Waterford City and cross the Suir River over Rice Bridge (no toll). Stay on the left lane once near Rice Bridge. Go left once across Rice Bridge, drive down the Quay staying in the left lane until you come to the traffic lights at the Tower Hotel. Go left and continue for 2.5 kilometres until you come to Waterford University Hospital. Go straight through that roundabout and drive on for another 14 kilometres to Dunmore East.

Alternatively, take the N25 Cork Road on the new (white) high-rise bridge over the Suir, pay a toll at the toll plaza, continue on for 2.4 kilometres after the toll Plaza and turn off left at the double roundabout. Keep going on that outer ring road through eight (8) further roundabouts until you come to the last roundabout at Waterford University Hospital. Veer off at 3 o’clock from that roundabout (the third exit) and drive for around 14 kilometres to Dunmore East, which is signposted along the way.

If arriving at Dublin Airport, JJ Kavanagh's bus leaves from near the Terminals, usually on the hour and they travel direct to Waterford. Adult single fare is €15. Or get the Green Bus from Dublin City Centre (€20). Another option is to get a Bus Éireann bus, which leaves from Bus Arus near Connolly Station near Dublin City Centre.

If arriving at Dublin port, you will need to get to Dublin City Centre, from where Kavanagh’s, the Green Bus or Bus Éireann buses to Waterford can be boarded.

3. from Wexford: Take the N25 into the City and stay on the left lane once near Rice Bridge.
